Should You Buy Sex Dolls On Amazon? Read This First!

Starting over the past year or so we have seen the marketplace for sex dolls expand on to the Amazon market place. Amazon is known as a trusted ecommerce platform for many things and most of us wouldn’t think twice about if our item was going to arrive as ordered or not. Does this also apply to buying a sex doll on Amazon? We’re here to tell you that it does not, sex doll buyers need to skeptical purchasing a sex doll on Amazon.

Don’t want to read the whole article? Well here is our bottom-line message:

While there are some legitimate sex doll sellers on Amazon, there are also plenty of scams. If you want to avoid any unnecessary complications, we recommend you skip Amazon and buy directly from a verified sex doll store.

Why Should You Be Skeptical Of Amazon Sellers?

Are all sex doll sellers on Amazon a scam? No, but the reality is that anyone can open a seller account on Amazon and begin listing their products without any quality checks.

If the seller is selling a fake or poor quality knock-off doll, they can simply close their Amazon account after a few bad reviews and open another one.

With that in mind, let’s look at some examples of sex doll scams on Amazon so that you can know what to look for and avoid it.

Examples of Sex Doll Scams On Amazon

Scam #1: Using photos from another doll brand and sending a knock-off instead.

This is the most common sex doll scam on Amazon and the industry in general. Unfortunately, due to the relaxed intellectual property laws in China, some sellers will copy doll designs from another manufacturer but with cheaper materials and poor craftsmanship, then use the product photos of the real doll to sell it online.

We can see that happening in this listing from Amazon seller “YOKIDOLL”. In this listing they are using the product photos for the 166cm WM Doll Body with Head #273, but they are selling it under their own brand name. They have even cropped and edited the product photos to remove the WM Doll watermark and product info.

The main thing that gives this scam away is the price. If this were a real WM Doll the price point would need to be much higher, unless they are purposely losing money on each sale. If you were to go to the WM Doll factory in China and purchase this doll directly from them at factory wholesale pricing, it would still cost you a few hundred dollars more than they are selling it for on Amazon. An official 166cm WM Doll as shown in their product photos costs significantly more than $600.

Scam #2: Misleading or false product information

Another thing to be wary of an Amazon is sellers that put false or misleading product information in their listings. This is sometimes done by sellers who want to cram their product title and info with common keywords, but it can also be done to intentionally fool customers. Either way, you want to look out for it so you don’t get duped.

In the listing pictured below, we can see an example of false product information in the product title. They claim it is a “Solid Silicone Sex Doll”, however the doll pictured is a TPE sex doll which is a different material than silicone. It would be a shame to order this doll thinking you were getting a silicone doll and then it arrives being TPE. It’s not that TPE is bad, but a seller should be honest about what they are selling.

Scam #3: Fake Reviews

Another risk with purchasing from Amazon is the possibility of fake reviews being posted to misinform the customer. Unfortunately for many competitive sellers, buying or trading for fake customer reviews is a great way to boost your listing and get it to the top of the search results in Amazon. Although effective, it is not good for shoppers who believe these reviews are legitimate and base their purchasing decisions off of them.

Sellers can buy reviews from websites pictured below. Therefore it is very hard to actually know what you’re going to get on Amazon when even “verified buyer” reviews are easily faked.

How To Avoid Sex Doll Scams On Amazon

The answer is simple, avoid Amazon completely. While there are certainly some worthwhile sellers on Amazon, the risks of purchasing from an illegitimate vendor are just too high for us to recommend it. Instead, we suggest you look to purchase a sex doll directly from a verified vendor. You can find a list of verified vendors on the doll forum, our favorite is Silicon Wives.
