Will sex robots be able to read human minds?

This question may seem ridiculous, but many experts agree, this will one day be a legitimate feature of sex robots. It is very conceivable that one day sex robots will be better at romance, physically and emotionally, than any human alive. Leading human-robot relationship expert and futurist David Levy predicts that in time sex robots will actually be able to ‘read our minds’ to figure out the flirting and romance strategy that produces the most effect results.

Sex Robots that can read minds?

Pretty crazy, huh? Researchers have studied the brain activity of people that are in love and have found some very tell-tale signs of love chemicals. One study scanned the brains of humans while they looked at pictures of other humans. Some of the pictures were of the person they were in love with, and others were of friends and acquaintances. The results were very clear, when the subjects viewed the photographs of their lovers their brains flooded with dopamine in a very unique way, when compared to the brain activity of viewing a friend or acquaintance.

So what does this mean for sex robots? Well, in the future robots may actually have the ability to conduct brain scans of their owners on the fly. This will allow them to test different flirting strategies to see which ones produce the largest dopamine reactions within our brains. With that information they will then be able to continue and expound upon the successful strategies so that the romance is most effective and intensely satisfactory for the owner.

If you think about human-human courtship there is lots of time spend wondering what the other person thinks. Does he like me? Will she reject me if I try to kiss her? If I make this joke will they be offended? etc. It is a virtual minefield of potential mistakes and faux-pas that can kill romance and libido in an instant. Sex robots that can ‘read minds’ will be able to cut through all that and provide a more efficient courtship process, making all the right moves at the right times and limiting transgressions. How can a real person compete with that?

Levy also predicts that these robotic courtship techniques will illicit an emotional response so strong in humans that by 2050 there will be demand for human-robot marriages. We will see men and women so infatuated by their relationships with their robot artificial intelligence that they will want to proclaim ’til death do us part’ and swear of human-human relationship for life.
